The Certosa di San Giacomo is an ancient Monastery with eighteenth century Church surrounded by 42 hectares of green grass and flowery gardens.
The Monastery, built between 1197 and 1209 at Lauro, a Medieval small town in Avellino province, became soon a place of agricultural production very famous for the quality of its products and a place of spiritual refuge. Even today inside the Certosa an ancient winepress and an Olive grindstone are kept and so the monks’tradition of producing wines like Fiano, Aglianico and all for the Certosa customers is continued.
In 1620 it became an Abbey and in the following century it had a new splendour thank to a complete remake. By the laws of 1808 about the confiscation of Church property, The Certosa transformes in a magnificent country residence.
Today a careful remaking has given it new life transforming it in an ideal place for meetings, ceremonies and weekends into full contact with nature.
The Certosa is situated in a strategic position at a few hundred metres from the historical centre of Lauro, dominated by the imposing Castle of Lancellotti Princes at a few kilometres from Naples and Avellino.
